Favorite Expat Blogs: Life Abroad

About a year ago, I was contacted by a fellow blogger whose blog I had not yet heard of: Life Abroad. She introduced her blog to me, I clicked on her link and immediately I was pulled in!

The crisp and positive view of life in Amsterdam and the Netherlands shared on Life Abroad is a great step for anyone who is either interested in seeing the Netherlands through the eyes of a foreigner, or for those who plan on eventually living abroad. Experiences are best captured via her own excellent photos, and she shares as well about other areas where she visits, keeping the blog definitely worth a weekly look-see for the latest in her adventures.

And what's this?

A palm tree in Holland?

No. . . But yes! In honor of Heather's Life Abroad blog today, I want to share some photos I took at a Dutch garden center [Dutch: tuincentrum] of some very pleasant and positive things seen gracing the gardens found in the Netherlands and/or symbolic of the Netherlands. The gardens found in the Netherlands ranks amongst the highest of my favorite things to see.

Click on the photos to see them larger in a new window, and click here to visit Life Abroad.

The garden center featured in these photographs were taken at Jan Boomkamp, located not far off the A-1 in Borne in the province Overijssel near Hengelo. Jan Boomkamp sells everything a garden needs, and they also have an on-site clog maker, miniature golf, a restaurant, a tour of model garden [with admission charge], and there is also an on-site wedding location [Dutch: trouwlocatie].

Very nice series with tributes to your favourite expat blogs! Good idea.
I have read "Life Abroad" a couple of times, and I agree with you, it is very good :)
This "tuincentrum" looks great - they also have a museum and a restaurant? Intersting! I'll take note and do something very Dutch: make a day trip to visit it, preferably on a holiday when they're open :)

@ Life Abroad: Graag gedaan! Your blog is fantastic ;-) It's been nice to follow & the aura from your blog is so fun & pleasant. Keep it up!

@ Aledys Ver: Thank you! I hope to cover every Expat in NL blog I follow, including your blog ;-) The only downside is there are so many blogs & some I haven't even had the time to look at lately. I've fallen so far behind in reading. Hopefully can make time this weekend to catch up ;-)

It looks like the kind of place my parents would love to visit next time they come over.

Oh... and if you are looking for 201. I have a blog about my accident prone life in Holland.

@ Invader Stu: Thanks for your comment & great to hear from you! And, same as my last reply to your comment on the Amsterdam Evil blog entry, I've been a long-time fan of your blog, so your blog too will definitely be up there ;-)

@ Andy: Thank you for your comment! I received your comment & sent an email to you, but I'm also going to post a reply here. I didn't want to post up your comment because your email address was in the comment, and I have no way of editing this out in case you didn't want to have it published. The millstones and all featured here are found at a garden center in Borne, Netherlands called Jan Boomkamp. Their website is:
